A little Christmas cheer

I embroidered a little birdie from birdbraindesign.net. I mounted it in a vintage metal hoop.
FYI......make sure when you use a vintage metal hoop that you mount carefully, they leave some vintage junk on the fabric. lol

Dresdens, Chicas and Embroidery....Oh My!

What do you get when you have four crafty friends who want matching table runners?
You get a dresden block swap!!
I couldn't blog until all the blockies reached their destination....they have!!

They are big blocks.....15"

Mine

Anything I make Karen always has a little something extra...sss.sss.sss

As for the embroidery, I was playing with hoop style and size
from a 7" clover to a 4" no name and two spring loaded.

Practice. You need to warm up your hands. I used different threads and stitches..
it's a mess so I didn't mess up the good ones!

Sticky-Solvy and in-progress stitching

Done! Just a quick rinse.....

Before and after the rinse

I can't wait to see how all the runners turn out! Probably sometime after the new year, we will work on them...I know I have quite a bit of holiday sewing to do and I am betting they do too!

Happy sewing!

Finished!
Bonus: review Clover Binding clips

I just got through plucking out basting stitches and looking for any stray threads.....done!
A whole quilt done! Hand quilted even!!! I spent too long on it, but it is fab!

Taaaa daaaaaaaa

The front

The back

My best corner

Even mitred the binding..I know right, crazy!
I sure hope Gamma and Papa Whittle get some good grandbaby snuggle time under this puppy!
It kept me warm while I worked on it. LOL

* * * BONUS * * *

I used a few amazon points and treated myself to these babies:

A closer look:

Clover Wonder Clips........I was skeptical.
I had tried the ones that looked like hairclips.....yukko. Threads just kept getting all stuck in them and they just didn't do it for me. In fact, I think my daughter actually used them as hairclips and lost every dang one of them......we are talking a box of 100 here!!!

They come in packs of 10 or boxes of 50.
I bought a box of 50. Worth. Every. Penny.

Pros:
No shifting....a nice tight grip the whole time I sewed.
Red...nuff said
No pin pokes
Not too much thread catching
You don't bleed when you step on one

Cons:
Cost more than pins, but not a lot more than the good pins
I only bought one box

Ask Santa for some this Christmas, you will be glad you did!!

Happy Sewing!

Almost done!

Well, I am in the home stretch.......the baby quilt is almost done!
I am determined to have it done before Thanksgiving!!!!

As you can see, the binding is all turned and waiting for a bit of handwork.

I am trying clover binding clips. So far, I think I like them.
When I start stitching and I don't get poked by a million pins, I bet I come to l o v e  them! LOL

When I'm done, I get to start a quilt for my little princess!!
Next week, she'll be 6 months old
Where did the time go?

Been wanting to blog bbbuuutttttt.....

My dresden centers are still a secret and I can't do "the big reveal" until all us swappers have our blocks, but I can show off some of my embroidery without giving anything away.
That white, fuzzy stuff is the sticky-solvi I printed the design on....the more strands you use, the better it comes out.....and pull pretty tight. This has three stands and it washed out just fine!!

Sooooooo a sneaky peeky

Ha! You can't tell what the letters are or what the background fabric looks like!
I should be able to do the big four block reveal at the end of the week......
hint, hint...I can't take it anymore!!!!

How to play with your Title on blogger

See how the Post title is on the left? Well, sometimes I want my title to be centered.
Sometimes I want two lines of text instead of one lone sentence like this:

TUSAL
The Totally Useless Sew ALong

See how the main part is bold and the other not? I know, right!

How can this be done? With a little bit of HTML code. I don't think I would want to do a whole post like this, because the amount of typingggggggg.......have mercy!

This is blogger specific, but it might work on other blog platforms...give it a go, the worst thing that can happen is your preview doesn't look good and then you can trash it.

To make your title letters bold, you type like this. I hope the code doesn't go away LOL
your test here
Oops, looks like blogger automatically converts it. lol

While writing a post, click the html tab, it will show you all kinds of code you can insert into your title.
Hmmmmmmm how can I show you the code without blogger converting it????
BRB...............

  Hope this helps. LOL
Some of the code works in the comments box too!!
Happy coding!
