My Cool Drinks for Hot Mamas apron is finally here!!

Thank you  Deanna from MO!!
A short pictorial....bad pic of me tho....web cam shot....lol

The mini-I-want-to-be wears the apron......Lime green polka dots....does it get any better than that?

The tuckins..... See how the towel and the apron have the same pitcher with a refreshing beverage embroidered on them? Do ya see the word refresh? Awesome sauce!!!
Once again people...stop sending things the Dot likes....she's already trying to claim the pitcher and glasses as her very own.....not happening!!

Me....wonky webcam shot aside...I look awesome!!!
(well......... except for having my granny's chins. Altho...this angle makes me look tall....I like that!)

Dinner and Cocktails

I made some place-mats to go with my Hot Mama Apron. I sooooooooo don't want to give them up. I am now on the hunt for another panel so I can have a set all my own!! I think they turned out fab!!

Here they are, in all their almost finished glory.
The Lady with the Red and Black polka dot hat is my favorite.
Welllllll, maybe the zebra print...I love them all!

The backs...two red and two stripe.
The border is actually a black and white print of different types of glasses.
It really makes the place-mats pop!

I took the opportunity to practice my free motion skills. They are far from award winning, but getting better all the time.

I really needed to make the binding 2" instead of 3" so I could've machine sewn it. Alas, I had to hand sew  it all down.  My needle pushing finger is s-o-r-e.
I hope my swapee likes them as much as I do!!

Hot Mama Chicken swappin aprons

My partner and I got our packages on the same day!! We even got to open them at almost the same time. We both really like our stuff!!
Here's a few pics:

Me and my apron. It makes me look 20 lbs lighter....it's a miracle apron!!!

The rest of my goodies! Do you see it??? That's right!! A Star Trek Chicken Pincushion!!!
Her official title: Jane T. Kluck of the Star Peck Hen-terprise.
Honestly, does it get any better???  She will never have a pin stuck in her...you can bet on it!!!

What I sent.....and who I sent to> She was the maker of all the chickeny goodness that I got!!

If you want some of her skillfully and thoughtfully made items, visit her new etsy shop!!!
(yes, it's a shameless plug, but she has mad skills!)

What I made for her:

Is she not the cutest thing ever in her retina burning apron??

Swapping is addictive and fun...especially when you get a good partner!!!

ps....we used the same dang fabric.....is that cool or what????

Waiting, wondering and roosting

What am I waiting for??/ My Hot mama chicken apron swapper!!! I know the partners are getting matched up today and I want mine now!! :-)  I want to blog-stalk my new partner, I want to plan a style, search for the perfect fabric and see all the sneak peeks!!!

What am I wondering about? Same dang thing!!! Chicken swap! And I keep hearing this mantra in my head: I'mmmmmm a chicken hawk and I eat chickens!  Anybody out there remember Foghorn Leghorn and that teeny, tiny, little chicken hawk that was always trying to catch him?? FYI, his name is Henry Hawks.

Roosting? I have a deadline to meet and I really, really, need to hunker down and ''getterdone". It's mostly hand work at this point and then the skirt. I also forgot to go pick up my daughter's dress yesterday....yes, another wonderful menopause moment. This aging thing.......not really enjoying it to its fullest.

And sew it begins............

Just started playing with layout and the fabric. Not sure how it will end up, but this is just the first pinning.
Do I pleat or do I gather?
Do I go symmetrical or wonky?
Do I like this or do I like that?
Don'tcha just LOVE trying to answer all those questions?
Feels like project runway in my dining room!!
Now I just need my teenagers to provide the drama!!

Alice in Wonderland Apron Swap

My next distraction is an apron swap. I am making one based on the red queen's dress in the Tim Burton version. Haven't quite decided on how the bodice will look, but something corsety and graphic. Not sure about the bling. It IS and apron and I want the person getting it to use it but bling doesn't wash so easy. This is a challenge I am totally up for!!!
