A few Treats

I have been busy with vacationing and planning and taking care of peeps, so, consequently, not much in the way of sewing action. 

I decided on a quick little project for some sewing peeps of mine.

They are about 3 x 3 square with some custon twill on the sides.

Been wanting to try this thimble for quite awhile.

Hope it does what I want. Will update... as only time will tell.

Picked up this lightweight patterned denim for my Darling Ranges dress.

I've been wanting to complete this for-ev-er. The store only had a tad over 2 yards. It is 60" wide, so I think I have enough......just barely. 
Still need to tweak the bodice....

Gonna give spray basting a try on a table runner that needs quilting.

The MIL wants a tiered boho skirt, so that needs some fabric choices and layer width choices.

It's time for a sewing adventure.........................

It wasn't planned. I was in Joann's to get some burlap for some wedding table runners, (see my pineterst board here) when I noticed a small, little, quiet sound, "buy me, buy me, buy meeeeeee."
I was looking for some canvas.....canvas would so not be calling my name. I turned the corner, the voice got louder...so I looked and looked. I was in the Fashion Knits aisle. I have yet to sew with this kind of fabric so it couldn't possibly be this row, I am a woven kinda girl. 

Oh noooooooo, it is this row!

Pre ruffled cheetah print knit. O M G and a half. I have no words, 

but it came home with me...a whole yard. LOL 

This will, indeed, be an adventure.

The rest of my purchases were a lot more socially normal.

 The aforementioned burlap......whatever was on the bolt.

This pattern (99¢) becasue my grand daughter loves the view of the blue sleeping bag looking one.

I should say she is most happy sleeping in that style of garment and winter is closer than we think.

This April Johnson knit (60% off) and this 99¢ pattern. 

Can you say maxi dress? Sure, I knew you could.

Some black jersey to go with the ruffled cheetah print fabric.

I must be nuts. I will be making the longer version with the black top.

I can't decide if I want it tank style or with the cap sleeves. 

I have barely sewn with knits, let alone preruffled knits. LOL

Any tips about fit and construction would be more than welcomed!!

After I get the reception sewing done and some quilt blocks for a swap and the baby blankets I have laying all over the place, I will be in full clothes sewing mode. 

I have a muslin ready for adjustments and now two patterns ready to try!

Uh-oh....the cat found the burlap....Bobo....get off of that!!! Shoooooooo

Some Days, you just gotta love your mailman!

Today was one of those days! Loving this new line - Homespun Chic by Melody Ross for Blend Fabric. I've been told I am the Queen of novelty prints....I can't help myself! te he he

 

 I have no plans for it at the momenteeto, but I haven't made myself a good novelty print dress or shirt in awhile. I don't need much for a grocery bag, so maybe one of those. 
I love the herringbone/swirly gingham prints......maybe one of those will be an accent print on the dress I started today. (claire cami dress by serendipity patterns)

Hopefully my mailman brings the rest of my ghastlies order....S O O N! Talk about your novelty print.......♥

As many of you know, I loves me some gifts from the heart and hand(I bet you do too). 

Especially if the hands that are making them are very skilled!!

More birthday highlights:

From my dear friend Karen. I already have a spot on it....bad me! But I love it so I intend to love it to death...well, until it's threadbare anyway. :-)

 A real live hand embroidered hanky. Probably vintage. See that big 'R'? 

The fabric is so delicate, I have no idea how it held up through many a cold season.

My dear friend and fellow road warrior, Denise made these little beauties...also, already in use!!

I discovered these last year and now I can't imagine not having one (or 6)

And this sewing caddy, cushion, thread-catcher. She says it needs to be a bit heavier since she used some study fabrics.......maybe a little, but so far, it's staying in place.

The mailman was very kind to me today. Some giftees to myself arrived. 

I shouldn't have done it, but I have a fabric addiction. 

I'd ask about a 12 step program, but I just don't want to get better, ya know!

The latest label crew project kit. It makes the cutest little button closure pouches. 

Heck, I want a shirt with those buttons!!!

35 zippers. 

I know, I know, it seems like a lot, but at .53 cents each...

how could I not be prepared for any sewing project? 

Okay, the part where I really, really shouldn't have.

OOooooing, Ahhhhhing and Planning

     There are some days when all you can do is look and marvel at all the possibilities; fondle fabric; look through books and blogs and try and picture, in your mind's eye, your next project. I love days like that!

     Yesterday was such a day! The UPS man was my bestie for a just a little while..at least for the time it took for him to walk to my door, ring the bell and leave me two boxes of fabric! Ohhhhhh, the fabric. Let me show you.......

A fat 1/8 pack of Reunion by Sweetwater. Ahhhhh.

I've preordered Lucy's Crab Shack already. Bad me!!

Some Riley Blake (6 charm packs and a jellyroll) for my upcoming grandmahoodness in late May, early June. I can hardly believe it....still.

 A charm pack of Circa 1934 for fondling purposes so I can use my layer cake and not feel like I will never see this fabric again. I know, I know......

Am I the only one who falls for a fabric and doesn't want to ''mess it up" by actually using it?

      Now that I see it all together again, I just want to daydream away. I recently read an article that sometimes the best part of sewing is the planning and the possibilities; the expectation more than the fruition. For some projects, that is absolutely true. It's always nice to keep one dream alive and fulfill all the rest.

    What dream do you want to keep?  So you can dream and play and plan,  ooo and ahhhhh, marvel at all it can be.......

    What dreams do you want to see in your "been there, finished that" pile?

My circa 1934 charm pack will stay in my dream pile. As for the rest........I want to oooo and ahhhh over lots and lots of little dreams come true!!
