Planner update

Well, it's been a few days and I am still in the "what was I thinking?" phase. LOL
I like the idea of the weekly, but I do have a need for more writing space. I like to keep info on the day I get the info, not move it all over the place and flip pages......a lot of systems are very compartmentalized and I am a jumbler.

added some card inserts since I got a few and needed a place to put them. added little post its

As you can see, Big Red is still gonna be a big part of how I do things.
Instead of a file system, I put what needs to be done right by the page of the date I need to do it.
See, a jumbler.
I turn to that page, and pow! there it is...
no opening a file labeled Wednesday..no to-do saying:look in Wed file...
in. my. face. that's the way I like it.

This is a copy of a daily page in FF size.

I was really considering using the FF as my daily, but I think it's just gonna be my travel brain. I can't shove things on the pages like I can Big Red. I have only had Poppy in my purse for three days and it has been very handy but as a combo desk/daily/traveler....I think that is asking too much.

One of my evolutions for 2015 is to get all my paperwork in order. I know where stuff is, but it is a little too jumbled, even for me. I know there are big changes on the horizon and being prepared is half the battle.

I may even downsize my purse brain to a pocket size since it may not be my all-in-one planner that I was going for.  I am going to give it a few months of trails and tweaking to see if I can change my ways....I can be a stubborn little critter.

What do you use as a "travel brain"?

Happy Planning!

DOWNSIZING
kinda, sorta, maybe..more like doubling up

It's that time of year when people look forward to happy endings and new beginnings: planning.
Yep, changes.

After 15 years, I am making a change...well lots, as my house is getting all spiffed up and I continue to drop some tonnage, but a shift in the way I keep track of my days. I downsized my planner.
I know, I know....I have a system that works for me and it's been in place for a very long time but I am finding that I really want to start taking my planner everywhere again and this big mamma jamma is just toooooo much. Also, it's just me and the hubs, I just don't need to keep track of 4 people's lives anymore. It's totally bizarre. I do keep track of my mil's appointments though.

I don't know about you, but if I don't have a to-do list, I can meander through my day and not really be as productive as I should.

Meet the new planner....a filofax personal size

Saffiano in poppy. I got a heck of a deal.
Not leather, but if I use this as much as Big Red, I will splurge on leather down the road.

So fresh...so empty

With Big Red......... A Franklin Covey Classic

Not much bigger than my wallet

Just the right fit.

The planner came with an assortment of pages and a dated weekly calendar
I do need some month tabs....doy..totally forgot to order those.
See the size difference....wow.  Big change and I do not write small.

I make my own daily pages so I shrunk some down and used them for a day or two to help me decide if I could really use so much less space. They don't have a to-do list, but I can work around that.
I do plan my day in time blocks, so I really wanted the hours showing.

Big Red has been a desk top workhorse and when my kids were in school it went to all the PTA/PTO meetings, Scout meetings, church stuff...everywhere. The last few years it hasn't traveled much since I downsized my purse awhile back.

Ain't she a beauty? She has one little ink mark on the spline....didn't noticed it until I was taking pics...time for a little saddle soap. Not bad for 15 years of daily use, eh?

I am going to keep her for things that don't need to travel....the home base, if you will. She will be what I grab in a fire because everything is in there...or will be.

My desk will have more room and I will be able to tell the docs (for my mil) what's good instead of waiting to check the fridge calendar when I get home. I did try to use my fancy phone, but I love paper. I did use a palm for a long time, but I still kept paper with me. Paper rules.

Any of you planner users have any tips for using the smaller size?
Favorite page styles?  I am not fond of the FF with all the languages taking up the real estate.

Any New Year's planning going on, or are ya still in holiday mode?

This person decides what's fashion?

Oy...
Not for the first time this week, I have noticed that many a fashion guru or editor is sooooo poorly dressed that I just want to crawl into my tv and smack them.

I am no fashionista, but even I know when something is butt-ugly and I'll fitting.

Zanna Roberts Rassi, you were so very, very...well....Ew

Poor fit....tent like..sandwich board...bra strap showing....monstrosity of a dress. How can you even tell people what is fashionable when you wear something like this?

Am I wrong? What is it that I don't get?
Believe me...I don't get this dress?

As for the designers..yawn city. Every single dress..snooze-fest except the winner.
Although, I think the dropped sleeve would drive me nuts.

And the Remodel Saga Continues...

A few updates from whydidwestartthisremodelduringtheholidaymonths front....................

The hubs went rogue with a paint choice....a bad paint choice..... and God smiled down upon my retinas and that stuff peeled like a ripe tangerine....Thank you!

New color....it's more yellow in person

The front on my apron front sink came with a gouge. I know SS will scratch, but it should be my family that does the scratching...gouges don't buff out so easy. Back it went and a replacement is on its way.

a cat may have stepped in the paint

Finally, the floors and cabinetry arrive

I am one cabinet short and one cabinet over and my correct cabinet is waiting for me at ikea.

We hope to be done by Christmas, barring any more issues. We still need to pick a faucet and a stove. We will get a new fridge after the first of the year.
We are looking at one of these babies....

That's right....freezerless. I know, right.
There is a whirlpool/kenmore that is similar, but the inside is just a smidge different..I am leaning toward that one.

Hope your holiday season is less stressful but just as exciting!
