Retro chic or really ugly?

Picked this up this week for nothing. Thought about painting it, but I kinda like it all with all its life showing. It weighs a lot more than it looks and it has very little wear considering. It's got to be better than this pressed board thingy I am using! I HATE it!!
When I do paint it, should I got plain, or all mural-ee?
Anyone wanna paint it for me? I'll provide food!! ;-)

    i'd go lipstick red too and then cover the top with a piece of black self healing matte! how fun! and cute little retro diner chair

    Love a retro diner chair! Red would sooooo not work in my house, but I do love red. I have a red car, red ipod, red coat, red scarf, I turn red in the sun..........

    It's not going to be a desk! it's going to be a tv cabinet! The hubster is going to mount a shelf in the middle and it will look all Scandinavian modern chic. I know, it just came to me while I was cleaning behind and rearranging the furniture.
