Is blogging still a thing?

Long time, no blog.

why?

Well, to shorten a painfully long story:

got a new phone

updated new phone

it gave me a new google account I didn't want or ask for

new account took all my info

couldn't get pics and info back to the correct account

google was zero help

blog pics will be spotty until I can figure a way to locate the pics

it's been 5 years, it ain't looking good.

I've had to update like crazy just to sign on.

Questions:

Should I start blogging again?

Do people still read these things?

Keep it one topic, like sewing, or just go all over the place?

Should I just bag this one and start anew?

Oh Feathers!

And I mostly mean that in a good way.

An online buddy of mine is a quilter extraordinaire..Teri Lucas

She has been trying to demystify machine quilting for those of us that find it a bit intimidating. I guess the biggest mystery is that, like any skill, it requires *gasp* practice. I know, I know, not a real mystery.

Well, here is one of her tips and some of my practice. FYI.....it ain't so pretty, just sayin....


First, you practice with pen and paper. Try to keep a continuous line and keep at it until it looks like you want. This is something that you should do with any new design. It helps your brain and hands know what to do. Muscle Memory, so to speak.

Then you get crackin......

my first feather. open toe foot on, bsr not connected. Who knew you could do that? Well, Teri did.  

I made the center line first then I feathered from the bottom up, then the top down. the feathers look a lot better from the bottom up.

Left is b to t...right is t to b

Changed to my regular darning foot, closed toe.

One feather is from the top down with the spine filled in

the other, bottom to top

All together.

What did I learn?

• Practice does make a difference. I hate when an old adage is right. lol
• Tips from a pro can make a difference if you use them
• I do prefer an open toe foot
• I do prefer controlling my machine instead of using the stitch regulator
• If your tension isn't dead on perfect, you can really see when your threads do not match.
• Yes, Bernina is great, but a sweet 16 handi quilter would so rock this
• I still got a lot of practice to do.

What new technique are you trying to make an old habit?

It seems that I have hit the proverbial brick wall with my photo storage....the "free" limit, anyway. When was blogger gonna tell me I had a limit? When was blogger gonna tell me my unlimited was limited to pics of 800px or less to qualify for unlimited storage on Picasa?


Right now I am looking into trying to adjust my Picasa, but that has turned into a big ol' boon doggle of uploading the newest Picasa and then having it not let me upload anything else and then I removed a few pics(sorry if some of my posts get all nekkid because I deleted a few)


any long time bloggers out there.......help! I don't want to move and I do want to keep posting.

**update**
for now I have migrated my pictures to a new account, but that is short term. Now to figure out the 800px thing without having to download picasa 3.whatever so I don't have to fiddle with this again. lol
Or I could just cough up the 2.49 a month........ponder, ponder

Holiday Adrenaline Rush

What my house needs to look like so I can finish all the Christmas projects that I have planned. 
AANNNDdddddd kinda, sorta,  haveta be done by the 24th.

Yes, that's right, I need to turn my home into a sweatshop for a few days. Anyone else out there in the same predicament? C'mon, I know there are a few of you/ :-)
