I was a bobbysoxer and my grand was Glenda the good witch, her doll was Dorothy.

 Met my friend Amy for a quick bite while she was passing through my neck of the woods.

My baby turned 27. Wow!

Good week so far!!

week 15

Can You believe we are already 15 weeks into 2017? My how time flies!!


This past Sunday, we celebrated the rebirthday of Jesus.

It's a slow process but it will be worth it in the end.

Saw this dress on 'Masterpiece' about the Bronte sisters.

Love, love, love the details. I need to make this but I have never smocked. I have had a few peeps mention they would help me, I just may beg them. LOL

Once again. I am a bed burrito in between the pets. OY

That's my week in a nutshell.  Also spent some time in the city where my dot gave me a facial. She's going to Cinta Aveda esthetician school. yes, my whole family are guinea pigs for here. LOL

A Little All Hallow's Eve Sewing

My granddaughter wanted to be Sleepy Beauty for Halloween.....how could I not make her a little costume??? She wanted daddy to be her Prince Phillip and mommy to be "fernifiscence".
Mommy did a great job making her Maleficent costume and her make up....woweeee

I actually have a regency dress and corset. They fit well and I am happy to say that the corset will soon be too big (yay me) and I have made this particular corset with a group of ladies as we pattern tested it....easy peasy...even if I did put the straps on the wrong way....lol

I can't wait...well, I guess I can wait since I have another one of her patterns and the fabric is all washed and pressed and ready to go...all 8 yards of it!

I just finished the corset and the undies for the above dress. It's a sickness, I know. LOL  I do not wish to be cured.

I also plan to make myself a dress for this summer and a linen shirt.....crinkly,wrinkly linen...ahhhhhhhh

It's Panda-monium!

Tonight was night one of Vacation bible School: Pandamania

A good time was had by all. I made two panda costumes and my daughter was one of the song leaders.

They didn't turn out too badly even after I totally cut up the pattern pieces so the black and white were in the right areas.  :-)

Jane Austen's Birthday

That's right, on December 16th, it will be the 235 anniversary of the birth of the woman that gave us Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett.! Did she somehow know that Collin Firth would play him in a totally awesome BBC mini series? Did she ever imagine that he would be bathing for all the world to see? What about coming out of the pond? Maybe.......she obviously had a fabulous imagination!





This past Sunday, the Sacramento Library concluded its 6 month long tribute to Jane Austen with a tea.
As you can see, there are quite a few "Janites" out there. there was only room for about 250 of us and a waiting list almost as long.

 As you can see, we had lots of yummy things to choose from. Scones and tea cakes and little watercress sammies. Four kinds of tea too. I forgot to bring a pretty tea cup so I had to use the plain white one, but the tea still tasted fab.

Three of us at my table dressed. The lady in the middle took a sewing class and this dress was her first project. Pretty dang good, eh? 

That's me, the silver haired matron. LOL  

I opted to be hatless, but I had it with me.

 

Group shot of several of us that came in Regency attire. I wish I knew all their names. I did show my corset off a little when I needed help undoing my buttons. The wooden busk was starting to get to me becasue my sister took great joy in lacing me far too tightly. Little sisters, what can you do, right?

We got to leave with a few goodies as well as our stuffed bellies. A girl can never have too many bags.....except under her eyes. hahahahaha

All in all a great way to celebrate. To see everything that the library did, please visit the Sacramento Public Library's website and the How Austentatious! link. Oops! Looks like they have moved the content already.

Over the course of 6 months, each of her books was read and discussed. At each meeting, there was a guest speaker that talked about the regency era. Medicine, entertainment, fashion, life in general. There was a fashion show (yes, I participated), an opera singer...just loads of fun. 

I can't wait for the next series of events....several of us are hoping they go Steampunk with Jules Verne and other writers of the late Victorian era! Maybe some Bronte sisters.
