What's your Superpower?

Welcome to the Superpowers Revealed blog hop. Host by http://www.sewwequilt.com/2014/04/revealed-superpowers-on-our-last-day.html
See each individual link below!!!

Our cheerleader is Pauline! She is fab...trust me!

My superpower #1 is misjudging how long it takes me to do stuff. lol

Superpower #2 is corset making....

Made one for a bunny too. LOL

What can I say, I love All Hallow's Eve and period clothing.
This one would look better on a body since the dress form is a bit small for it.
This is the Dore pattern from Lafn Moon.
I think I may need about a million more flowers, but it looks nice this way.
I am on my iPad so I can't make this post as good as I should, but follow the link above to get to all the other Super hoppers until I can add the links. ****Update***- Links added!!
What is your superpower?

The Easter Bunny
Goes Steampunk

Steampunk Easter Blog Hop
see below for links

Welcome to:

Leslierahye's Hippity Hoppity

Steampunk Spring

 Blog Hop 2014

This is my second year hopping and I hope you all like my newest creation.
I went all out this year....ALL  OUT!

Yes, I spent more time on it that I should have.

Yes, my granddaughter is too young to know what steampunk is, so my creation will get something more age appropriate and I will make a replacement for myself.

And here she is...........in all her steampunk glory........

Miss Agatha J. Bunny

The boots may be my favorite part.

I used a pattern called Miss Maggie Rabbit  and then I improvised from there.
She has an gear trimmed chemise, houndstooth skirt, corset and boots.
What good victorian lady doesn't have a cameo?
I really had far too much fun making her.
Now hop on over and check out the other artistes...I am sure you will love their creations.

Happy Steamy Easter!

LRs Very Steampunk Valentine Blog Hop 2♥14

Welcome to the third annual

LRs Very Steampunk Valentine Blog Hop 2♥14

This year I decided to not do an embroidered piece. I know, I know. I did almost no sewing.....just a teeny tiny little bit.

I started with this little pile of goodies

I took things apart, markered up and dabbed some acrylic paint here and there. Glued and cut and taped and sewed my little bit of altered art.

I took the theme in a little bit of a different direction. You see, lots of people feel trapped by Valentine's Day soooooo... I trapped cupid. LOL

I couldn't pick the best shot, so here are both of them

I hope your Valentine's Day leaves you feeling steamy and not trapped!
Now, go and enjoy the other hoppers!

WICKED BLOG HOP - It's been a Ghas

It's my turn in the Wicked Blog Hop.

I hope you have been looking at all the wonderful things all these talented peeps have made!

It's been quite the Ghastlie challenge to get my post and project up and running. lol

Let's start at the beginning...
  • I got left off the hop schedule
  • I took way to long to decide on a project
  • I ended up having all kinds of family here and my sew Friday didn't happen for as long a time as I needed it to. lol
  • I got the quilt top all pieced and ready to quilt and, much to my horror, I have one row going the wrong way.
  • Unsandwich and unsew....oy
  • THEN.................

The power goes out..thank you gale force winds...not!

With 12" of resewing left...12 measly inches!

Then I realize that my mini quilt is too big for its intended locale

I did manage to get it done!
Front

I am a firm believer that the back should be almost as nice as the front

It has been a Ghastlies kinda day...perfect for a Ghastlies, sans peeps, quilt!

Now go a check out today's hoppers...I am sure they had a much less Ghastlie time of it!  hahahaha

PIN-IT! BLOG HOP - - -TODAY!

Today is the start of of the Pin-It! Blog Hop........those who have a love of pincushions are sharing our creations. Some simple (like mine) and I am sure there will be over achievers galore! I can't wait to go and look!

Thanks to Mdm Samm and our cheerleader Kristen @ Meadowbrook for hosting such a fun hop!

I am been overloaded with activity so my contribution is simple, multiple, quick & easy and I really like them!

I started with some tea light holders that got ruined while I removed the price tags....who knew the color was painted on and not in the glass? Really?
You burn things in them..hheeellooooooooo

I picked some cute fabrics and made little balls of fiberfill and glued away.....regular glue, not hot and this is what I got.................

I used linen and free-handed some embroidery.....a 1.5" circle is all I had to work with

The whole kit and kaboodle!

Go and visit all the other hoppers....I am sure you will be totally delighted with their creations!  I'm going now!

It's here, It's here! the Star Trek Blog Hop is out of the World!!

Today is finally my day to hop!
Have you enjoyed all the crafts? The giveaway? I know I have!!

I made a couple of things, with a couple more in the works, cuz a Trek Geek, I am.

First off...a teeny, tiny pincushion/ornament
Made with a wool blend felt in a command color...all hand done....including the star!!
This can be yours....just check out the lead hoptress at http://www.punkprojects.com/

In the background, you can see a stellar project bag...it needed a a little something to keep my smaller equipment all in one place.
Sooooooooo I unsewed this plastic grocery bag holder (since the eco nazis are taking away all the plactic bags) and used it as my fabric.

I ♥ linen and red and polka dots and trek

One fold

Two fold

Three fold, then tie!!

Hope you enjoyed hopping and I KNOW you enjoyed Star Trek: Into Darkness!!

May is National Transportation Month and what better way to celebrate than with a Steampunk themed blog hop?!

Our loverly hostess for this hop is Ms. Leslie Rahye....all the links are at the end of the post. Join me, won't you?

My inspiration fabric

Sewn on a 1941 Featherweight.......almost as old as the age Steampunk represents, right?

Transporting groceries, steampunk style!

I made this bag for a friend who loves him some bike riding and hates using his wife's girly grocery bags. lol

Enjoy the hop!!!  I know I will!!

Tiny Stitches

I have always appreciated the skill and patience required to work in miniature. It's amazing, to me, how people can get such precise details in such a small work area.

After working on something mini myself, my appreciation is even greater. My project, for an up coming blog hop, is only 3" by 2"......totally mini by my standards.

A sneak peek:

Wow, my stitches look ginormous up close. lol  And not so neat either. :-)

Have you ever made something in a "mini me" size?

April Showers MugRug Blog Hop!!

Welcome to day three of the April Showers Mug Rug Blog Hop.

Erin at Sew at home Mummy is our cheerleader for this hop!

April may have showers that bring us the flowers that bloom in May, but I never think of rain...I think of my wedding anniversary. This year is a biggie......25!
I know, right.......forever, in the blink of an eye.
We have had our ups and downs, thank The Lord, more ups than downs.

I used some sweetwater fabric and found all the 1988's I could to surround this embroidered block. I got the hands pattern on etsy from becgroves and added the dates in my poor handwriting.

A tiny bit of handquilting around the flowers and it was done.

Here are the other blog hoppers....
April shower them with a little hopping around.
A few of them even have giveaways!

"Stitch Me Up"
Embroidery Blog Hop
Day 2

It's My Hop Day! Or should I say "Hoop" Day!

Thanks to Mdm Samm, Debbie and Cyndi for creating some lovely FREE patterns for all of us hoppers to choose from
and to our Head Cheerleader for this blog hop....JANE
from Janes Fabrics Fame and her generous Presencia Packets that she made available to us. Fun stuff!

I picked the beret-ed woman with the little dog.
I just couldn't resist her. I came soooo very close to the chair and dress form though.
This was fun and challenging because I decided to make this an exercise in fill stitching.
I got a lot of practice and I fear I need more. LOL

Without further ado..............I give you..........."I like Paris in the Springtime"

I kinda like the inside too!
I used a patterned fabric so I needed to cover it with stitching. Next time I decide to cover this much open area (12" hoop), it will be a combo of rough edge applique AND embroidery.

Here she is, up close and personal and a higher pixel count.

Stitches I used:
back stitch
straight stitch
stem stitch
split stitch
satin stitch
french knots
cross stitch
and very new to me....bohkara stitch (skirt)

I think the hair is my favorite part!
I really had fun and frustration all at the same time......loved every minute of it. Since I was sick for most of the sewing time, it was a great way to sit all quiet like and still be productive.

Go and look at all the other hoppers!!! Day one was fab....day two is sure to be awesome!!
