It's a finish

Well, my first, and possibly my last, cross-eyed stitch project is done.
I'm glad I did it, but I prefer surface embroidery and lines I can follow....counting, not so much.

I can't wait to frame it and get a cross stitching champion to finish the 6 other uniforms that I want.....are you reading this Karen?????

The stitching sure needs some work, but it looks better in person and not in macro camera mode. LOL

That is two finishes for me..... this month....I rarely seem to sew for me and it felt good...real good.

Now, onto Christmas sewing with my eyes on sewing more than a couple of things for me in 2016.

Enjoy the last 'Ber of the year......December!

Happy almost Christmas!!

It's a start

Started the cross stitch. Hated the first 30 minutes and 5 rows.
The next 30 minutes and next 5 rows......not so bad.

Progress......

The first few rows......hooped and hated it.

Tonight...not hooped and not hating it.

Yep, I got this.

THE FINISHED FILES

I give you a quilt and a craft....

Thought I had a better shot of this

The MIL saw this and had to have one for her table. Of course they are no longer made.
Shhhhh, don't tell anyone, but I just don't see the beauty in it she does. No, no I don't.

Started with this as a base

Bought a stalk of flocked leaves at Michael's
Peeled off the stems...that took awhile

Good ol' white glue and something to keep it flat until it dried....voila'
She loves it. And someone wanted me to make more.
I declined.

Did some thimble adjusting

Gratuitous granddot shot

Now, back to getting a blog worthy life. LOL

The Easter Bunny
Goes Steampunk

Steampunk Easter Blog Hop
see below for links

Welcome to:

Leslierahye's Hippity Hoppity

Steampunk Spring

 Blog Hop 2014

This is my second year hopping and I hope you all like my newest creation.
I went all out this year....ALL  OUT!

Yes, I spent more time on it that I should have.

Yes, my granddaughter is too young to know what steampunk is, so my creation will get something more age appropriate and I will make a replacement for myself.

And here she is...........in all her steampunk glory........

Miss Agatha J. Bunny

The boots may be my favorite part.

I used a pattern called Miss Maggie Rabbit  and then I improvised from there.
She has an gear trimmed chemise, houndstooth skirt, corset and boots.
What good victorian lady doesn't have a cameo?
I really had far too much fun making her.
Now hop on over and check out the other artistes...I am sure you will love their creations.

Happy Steamy Easter!

Although not the most exciting of sewing, sometimes you just gotta be useful.

shortened and hemmed sweats for the mil

 little bitty pincushion
I tried to make it look like the bee was buzzing...

I've got more  planned for the sew along, won't you join in?

Been Busy.......sewing and crafting

With Christmas day fast approaching, I had to kick it into high gear.

My little corner of the world looked pretty bad for a couple of days

My finishes in the last three days....

Apron

Gingerbreadman

Cowboy stocking

Look inside!!
MooooOOOooooo

6 piggie bank gift card holders

All the little piggies in a row

I still need to make two more gift card holders, edge a fleece blanket, get a couple more gifts, stocking stuffers and plan a meal for, hmmmmm, how many?......16? 19? one of those numbers....lol the more the merrier....my place will be the place to be on the 28th...par-tay
If I can, I want to make wheel covers for my hubs trailer too. I am tired of looking at that ratty ol' burlap keeping his wheels from getting a sunburn.

How are you spending your last few days before Christmas and New Year's Day?  If you don't do Christmas, how do you spend your time?

Surprisingly, I don't feel too stressed, but it isn't quite crunch time yet. lol

When bad things happen to.................

good tealight holders.......

I tried taking the sticky tags off as gently as possible and it appears that the glass is painted and not colored through and through.  * big sigh*

Stay tuned to see how I turn this batch of "lemons" into "lemonade"

A Blast from the Past

My mom was going through a bunch of stuff and she gave me some old pictures of myself and a few objects d'art. LOL

Circa 1971 and 1973  Wow, just wow. lol

What do you do with stuff you don't want but just can't bring yourself to toss? hahaha

Kitsch at it's very best

O M G I just realized that is 40 years ago!
I have stuff that is 40 years old...that is mine....when did that happen?
Looks like I still got my craft on. :-)

A little Christmas cheer

I embroidered a little birdie from birdbraindesign.net. I mounted it in a vintage metal hoop.
FYI......make sure when you use a vintage metal hoop that you mount carefully, they leave some vintage junk on the fabric. lol

I need another pincushion like a.........................

....hole in a jar.

Wait! I do need a hole in a jar. What's that you say?  Yeppers. I wanted, nee, needed and ORT Jar.
Old Ratty Threads or old ratted threads, I like ratty better, just saying.

My new embroidery pincushion needed to be special since I already own far too many several pincushions that have specific uses. :-)  Please don't tell me every different color of pinhead and each style of pin do not need their own pincushion......cuz you would be soooooo be wrong.  LOL

The pincushion needed to have a place for my ORTs and I didn't want to be taking the lid off every single time I used my jar. First, what a pain, second, what if I lost the lid or had to fish it out from under the couch if I dropped it? Nosireebob, not happening. I was also tired of the same thing happening to my scissors; sliding down into the couch cushions......don't get me started.

My solution:

My ORT Jar

Side view.
Love the Circa 1934 fabric.
It was hard to cut into my stash because I really ♥ this fabric line.

Top view. (duh, right)

A hole so I can stuff my threads down in the jar.
Look ma, I don't have to take off the lid!!
Wow, this pic makes me look like I have gigantor hands. lol.
The jar really is a good size. wide mouth and 12oz, about 4" tall and 3.5 inches wide.

A place for my scissors.
Sssshhhhhh, I got a new pair just for the jar.
50% off plus another 20% off with a coupon.
Can't go wrong with ginghers!
I ♥ coupons.
I ♥ scissors that fit my fingers.
Okay, okay, I ♥ having a bunch of scissors. Jeepers already.

Stem stitch practice.
Small lettering and stem stitch......not such a great combo.
I am still going to finish it with the stem stitch, but live and learn, right?

To join in on the ORT Jar fun, check out this site.

She's calling it TUSAL the totally useless sew-along. You post a pic of your jar every full moon.
That was last night/this morning. So this is my very first official ORT Jar post!!
Wooo and hoooo
