French and Knotty
Practicing my french knots for an upcoming project. I am pretty sure I need more practice. LOL
I used an entire skein of pink variegated floss. It looks unfinished, so I may add some more and start having them thin out to a smattering of dots.

31 Day Blog Writing Challenge
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
I've been a very sporadic blogger of late and I need to get myself back into a routine, hence accepting the challenge. What will I write? I haven't got a clue, but it will be something, anything.
Day one complete!!
Won't you join in on the fun?

I've gotta plan for 2017
Or should I say planner? Or two?
This is my current set up. It's been great for a couple of years now but it is bulky and makes my purse heavy and takes up a whole lotta room. Don't get me wrong.....it's a fabulous planner and very customize-able.

Well, I've decided I needed a change so I went on the hunt for something that was less bulky but still gave me everything I wanted/needed in my portable "brain".
I saw thee cutest little planner on www.jetpens.com. They only had one size and one style. I was really unsure how a bound, unchangeable planner would work. I needed to know more so I went to the Hobonichi site and took a look around. I was intrigued and they had a weekly format, all be it in Japanese only.
So far, I am really liking the new layout....a lot
Are you a planner person or is your brain way better than mine? LOL

Enter Hobonichi
So I bit the bullet and ordered the Weeks and a few accessories
See how much more room I have.
Old planner and new planner
I couldn't wait to get started before January.
I copied my Filofax calendar and stuck it in there.
The back has 72 blank pages and an index page. You can use these bullet journal style or how ever you want. I've started my Christmas planning and New Year's goals already.
It also has room for a pen and some other stuff.
So far, I am really liking the new layout....a lot
I ended up ordering a few more things and the A6 planner in english.
I still prefer the weeks. It came with the Uni multi pen and that cute little toast plate.
My dot says she wants this one. I may use it as a prayer journal or sewing journal.
I just don't know yet. It doesn't start until January, so I got a little time to ponder.
Side by Side

Civic Duty Done
Not gonna be thrilled with either outcome, but I refuse to stand by and not be counted.

When disaster strikes your quilt
Yep, it happened. A big ol' rip......about 6.5" long. Not a happy camper, to say the least.
I can't really complain, this quilty was a gift from my mom, Christmas circa 1977ish. It's been used daily ever since.
It isn't the first booboo. I have had to repair some small holes and some of the stitching, but that was easy peasy. Thankfully, this turned out to be an easy fix too. I hope it holds for another 38+ years.
booboo
Found some brown. Not perfect, but I didn't want to haul my baby off to Joanns to hunt down a tiny piece of brown.
First I trimmed the lose threads
Put the patch underneath. Yes, there will be some quilting that has to be redone.
Press under the raw edges
Thankfully, there was enough slack in the fabric to hide the patch underneath
Good ol' ladder stitch
Up one side, down the other, splitting the distance on the return
First part done, now I carefully pick-stitch the patch in place

The front of this 1970s beauty
What do you do when disaster strikes?
